Falcon

Falcon is a southern suburb of Mandurah, located southwest of Mandurah’s central area and with frontage to the Indian Ocean. It is approximately 73 kilometres from the Perth CBD covering an area of 6.445 square kilometres. Falcon is one of four Mandurah suburbs that lie on an island bound by the Mandurah Estuary to the north, the Peel-Harvey Estuary to the east, the Dawesville Channel to the south and the Indian Ocean to the west. It is also bisected by Old Coast Road, which connects Falcon to nearby Mandurah and Bunbury.

A drive to the Perth CBD will take roughly 1 hour down the Kwinana Freeway, and a trip on the train will take just under 1.5 hours to get into the Perth CBD, on the Mandurah Line. Falcon is just a 10-minute drive south of Mandurah.

A community hub on both sides of Old Coast Road forms a district centre comprising shopping centres, medical facilities and support services, cafes and restaurants, a sports oval and pavilion and the Falcon Library and Community Centre. Falcon Family Centre also provides a range of services, programs and activities for parents and early years children.

For those who love the great outdoors, Falcon Reserve has a skate park and BMX track, and is also home to the South Mandurah Football club. If water is more your thing, then the popular Falcon Beach is a great spot with a lookout and café.

Locals have access to several small shopping outlets, including Falcon Grove Shopping Centre, Miami Village, Novara General Store, and Miami Plaza Shopping Centre which is home to a Woolworths and 23 specialty stores. For larger shopping expeditions, Mandurah Forum is only a 10-minute drive away.

There is only one primary school within the suburb – Falcon Primary School, so residents will need to travel to surrounding suburbs for more schooling options. The closest schools are Mandurah Catholic College, South Halls Head Primary School, St Damiens Catholic Primary School and Ocean Road Primary School, both in Dawesville. There is a Bright Start Early Learning Centre in Falcon for those that need childcare services.

The population of Falcon is 5,687 with a density of 906 persons per square km. Of the families in Falcon, 30.9% were couple families with children, 52.6% were couple families without children and 15.5% were one parent families.

Annual growth of the suburb is sitting at 12%. Based on settled sales as of 27 June 2022, the median land price in the suburb is $220,000 (reiwa.com.au).
