Preston Beach

Preston Beach is a small town located in the Peel region of WA just off the Forrest Highway, between Mandurah and Bunbury in the Yalgorup National Park. It is approximately 122 kilometres south of Perth and a drive from Perth will take roughly 1.5 hours.

Preston Beach is a relaxed holiday and recreational destination for locals and tourists. The area is renowned for its scenic beauty, with Yalgorup National Park and the surrounding lakes attracting a variety of native animals and birdlife. There are hides and viewing platforms, a boardwalk and several walk trails that everyone in the family will enjoy.

Preston Beach has a fantastic beach that stretches for miles so you’ll have plenty of spots to enjoy the surf, sunbake, or take a stroll. There is a car park which provides easy access to the beach, along with some toilet and picnic facilities, making this a great family day out.

At the heart of the town lies the not-for-profit Preston Beach Golf Club. It boasts a challenging 9-hole layout on synthetic greens that meanders around the town and the vast salt lakes. At all times of the year, you’ll most certainly be greeted by grazing kangaroos on the course.

For all your shopping needs, there is an old-fashioned Preston Beach General Store open 7 days a week. They stock food, petrol, tackle, bait, ice, liquor and all your essentials. There is also a café serving a great range of food from fish and chips to the biggest burgers in the South West.

The closest schools are in Waroona – Waroona District High School and St Joseph’s School, which are a 25-minute drive.

The population of Preston Beach is estimated to be 268. Of the families in Preston Beach, 88.7% were couple families without children, 11.3% were couple families with children and there were no one-parent families.

Annual growth of the suburb is sitting at 23.3%. Based on settled sales as of 24 October 2022, the median land price in the suburb is $135,000 (reiwa.com.au).
