Gracetown is a small town in the South West of WA, located approximately 269 kilometres south of the Perth CBD. It is approximately 21.5 kilometres north-west of Margaret River in the Augusta-Margaret River Shire Council.
A drive from Perth to Gracetown is just over three hours. The closest town is Cowaramup, just over 13-minutes’ drive away and only 20 minutes from Margaret River – putting you within easy reach of the region’s award-winning restaurants, premium wineries, boutique breweries and gourmet local produce stores.
Gracetown is perched on a hillside with sweeping views over Cowaramup Bay where you can enjoy ever changing ocean views, spectacular at sunrise and sunset, lovely coastal walking trails, whale watching in the winter months, and safe swimming and snorkelling beaches in summer.
Gracetown is one of the few spots along the Margaret River coast that offers perfectly calm waters for swimming, as well as world-class big waves. Gracetown is a surfing mecca and whether you’re a beginner or a pro you can get out on a board and enjoy the swell. There are three main breaks – North Point, South Point and Huzza’s. If you’d rather be a spectator than get in on the surf break action, there are plenty of good vantage points to watch the local professionals doing what they do best.
This quiet coastal town of beach shacks is also the halfway rest stop along the 123-kilometre Cape to Cape Track – one of the most diverse coastal walking trails on Earth. Walk or cycle the whole track or shorter sections to experience beautiful beaches and headlands, tall karri tree forests, ancient caves and carpets of spring wildflowers.
Being in the heart of the Margaret River Wine region provides easy access to a wonderful array of local favourites including Pierro, Cullen and Grace Farm. You’ll be spoilt for choice for cellar door tastings, winery lunches and tours, and a couple of breweries and a cidery too!
Gracetown has a small general store by the beach which offers the essentials, with plenty of other shopping destinations just a short drive away.
The population of Gracetown is estimated to be 238. Of the families in Gracetown, Couples with children make up 51% of the population, followed by couples without children at 43.1%. Single parent families make up 5.9%.
