Cowaramup

Cowaramup is a town in the South West region of WA, 257 kilometres south of Perth and 12 kilometres north of Margaret River. You can travel along the Bussell Highway, the main highway between Busselton and Margaret River to Cowaramup. The drive from Perth takes just under 3 hours.

Originally a timber town, Cowaramup has transformed into a successful farming town with industries like beef, sheep, dairy, as well as thriving wine and cheese industries.

Affectionately dubbed ‘Cowtown’ by locals, you’ll be greeted by life-size fiberglass cows lining the streets and charming cow-themed shops that add a delightful touch to the town’s character.

But here’s a fun fact: the name Cowaramup actually comes from a native bird, not just the cows.

This little gem of a town offers much more than its cow-themed attractions. Food and wine lovers will find themselves in paradise with local wine tastings, delectable cheeses, fudges, and organically grown olive oil.

For families, there is one primary and pre-primary school in the town, with the nearest high school and university campuses located in Margaret River. Police and fire services are based in Margaret River and Busselton.

Families with children make up 52.1% of the population, while 37.2% are couples without children, and one parent families make up 10.4% of the overall town population.
