Binningup

Binningup is a beautiful coastal town in the South West region of WA between Mandurah and Bunbury, and part of the Shire of Harvey. It is located approximately 144 kilometres from the Perth CBD and is a one and half hour drive down Kwinana Freeway.

Binningup is a popular tourist town and stopover point in the summer months thanks to its 40-kilometre stretch of white sandy beach sheltered by reefs. Swimmers love the non-polluted water and avid fishers enjoy catching tailor, yellowfin whiting, herring, flathead and salmon. If you enjoy getting up close with sea life, it’s the perfect spot to swim, snorkel, scuba dive or go boating.

Whilst being a tourist spot, there are also many attractions for local residents including a scenic golf course, a general store, caravan park, skateboard park, recreation centre, youth camp, public library and public oval. Binningup Golf Club is a challenging 9-hole course with a breathtaking backdrop of the Indian Ocean to the west and natural bushland to the east. Other activities just a short drive south include crabbing, sailing and windsurfing at Leschenault Inlet. If you prefer to indulge in nature, the Leschenault Peninsula Nature Reserve is a great place to spot kangaroos and other native wildlife at dusk.

Locals can access the Binningup General Store for daily necessities or can travel a bit further 15-minutes south to Treendale Shopping Centre and Australind Shopping Centre. Australind Shopping Centre has plenty of parking and 26 specialty stores including ALDI, Coles, Chemmart Pharmacy and Australind Newsagency and Post. Whilst Treendale has a Woolworths, Best & Less, The Reject Shop and a range of specialty stores and services. Another alternative is Eaton Fair Shopping Centre which is about 22 minutes’ drive further south. Eaton Fair has major stores Kmart, Woolworths and Coles.

For schooling needs, residents have the option of travelling to Australind, Brunswick or further south to Bunbury. Schools include Brunswick Junction Primary School, Parkfield Primary School, Australind Primary School and Treendale Primary School. High school options include Australind Senior High School, Harvey Senior High School, Bunbury Senior High School, Our Lady of Mercy College and Hope Christian College.
