West Beach

West Beach is a suburb of Esperance, in south-eastern WA. Located 699km south of Perth, you can fly to and from Perth in as little as 2 hours 35 minutes or the drive takes approximately 7 and a half hours.

In addition to its serene waters, West Beach is distinguished by an extensive, shallow reef that parallels the coastline. During low tide, calm lagoons emerge between the reef and the beach, creating extended swimming areas.

If you enjoy walking, one of the best ways to experience Walpole is by taking the Bibbulmun Track, a long-distance trail that stretches almost 1,000 kilometres from Perth.

The area also has a surf life-saving club, various shops, and additional amenities, with further resources available in the nearby town of Esperance.

Families can choose from several schooling options including Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Primary School, Esperance Anglican Community School, Esperance Primary School, Esperance Christian Primary School, Nulsen Primary School, Esperance Education Support Centre, and Esperance Senior High School.

The Valley of the Giants is nearby in the Walpole-Nornalup National Park. Or you can capture the breathtaking whirlpool at Circular Pool on the Frankland River and enjoy panoramic views from the summit of Mount Frankland. If you’re interested in wildlife, find a quiet spot to observe wrens, sea eagles, pelicans, and scarlet western rosellas. You can also take a cruise of the inlet or uncover the intriguing story of the Norwegian crew who survived a shipwreck at Mandalay Beach.

The local population of West Beach averages 1,487, and median average land prices currently sit at $209,000 (as of November 2023)*
