Ocean Reef

Ocean Reef a northern suburb approximately 25 kilometres from the Perth CBD and lies within the City of Joondalup. Primary development was established in the 1980s, with growth continuing through the 1990s and remaining stable ever since.

The stunning coastline between Mullaloo and Iluka beaches border the suburb, making Ocean Reef your seaside getaway that’s not too far from the city. The suburb is also full of fantastic amenities, educational institutes, cafes, corner shops, and supermarkets, with plenty more on the way thanks to the Ocean Reef Marina Project.

Ocean Reef Marina is set to become a beautiful waterfront precinct providing residential, boating, recreational, and tourism facilities for both local residents and visitors. Waterfront restaurants, a beachside park, 12,000sqm of retail and commercial space, capacity for boat pens and boat stackers, over 1,000 homes, proposal of a water play area, protected swimming area, and snorkel trail, are plenty of reasons to set up home in this suburb.

Travelling into the Perth CBD is convenient with the Mitchell Freeway taking you straight there within 30 minutes. If relying on public transport, Ocean Reef is close to both Joondalup and Edgewater Station, taking you directly into the Perth CBD in just 25 minutes. There are buses from Marmion Avenue which provide services to Joondalup station.  

Ocean Reef has plenty of luscious parklands to explore and an animal exercise beach nearby. If you like long beach walks the Iluka to Burns Beach coastal walk is a popular activity and ideal for watch the sunset. Another lovely spot nearby is the Mullaloo Beach Lookout which sits atop a small hill. Here you’ll be able to spot seabirds, dolphins, sea lions, rays and a huge diversity of other species.

Beaumaris City Shopping Centre and Ocean Reef Shopping Centre are the two local shopping centres for all your grocery supplies, or if you require more variety, Lakeside Joondalup is less than a ten-minute drive.

Ocean Reef has three primary schools (Beaumaris Primary, St Simon Peter Catholic Primary and Ocean Reef Primary) and two high schools (Ocean Reef Senior High School and Prendiville Catholic College) catering to both public and private education needs. For pre-school needs there is a Goodstart Early Learning centre in the suburb and MercyCare Early Learning Centre in the neighbouring suburb Heathridge. For tertiary studies, Edith Cowan University’s Joondalup Campus is only a 6-minute drive.

The population of Ocean Reef is 7,982 with a density of 1,519 persons per square km. The suburb is heavily populated with older and established couples and families who make up 56.6% of total residents.

Annual growth of the suburb is sitting at 14.6%. Based on settled sales as of 7 March 2022, the median land price in the suburb is $590,000 (reiwa.com.au).
