Yokine

Yokine is located approximately 8 kilometres from the Perth CBD in the City of Stirling. Yokine started to boom after WWII and was almost fully developed by the 1970s. The dwellings in this area reflect the time, with brick developments, timber-framed houses, and some modern architecture that line the streets. About 80% of the dwellings in Yokine are now a house or villa/duplex structure. 

The central location puts residents close to all that Perth has to offer. The commute to the city is an easy 12 minutes’ drive into the CBD. If you prefer the bus, you’ll get into the city in 20 minutes. If you want to head to the beach to cool down or get some vitamin D, you can reach Scarborough Beach, Brighton Beach, Trigg Beach, Peasholm Dog Beach and Mettams Pool all in under 20 minutes. It doesn’t get more central than this. 

There is an excellent range of parks and reserves in the suburb, with sporting options including tennis, golf, and lawn bowls to tickle everyone’s fancy. Yokine Reserve is perfect for sporting, walking or picnicking. The Western Australian Golf Club is one of the most well-known locations in the suburb. Many visitors travel to have a swing on the green. Stirling Leisure Centre Terry Tyzack is neighbouring the suburb, where you can go for some laps in the pool, hit the gym or send the kids to the creche. 

Living in Yokine means plenty of options for a night out with friends. Lot Six Zero, The Mighty Quinn Tavern and Beiyrut Restaurant are just some of the popular local spots for a satisfying drink and hearty meal.

For your shopping needs, Dog Swamp Shopping Centre and Flinders Square Shopping Centre are both around the corner for daily groceries. If you’re looking for a bigger shopping experience, then Morley Galleria and Westfield Innaloo are 13 minutes away, and Karrinyup Shopping Centre is just 15 minutes away. Both centres have plenty of fashion outlets, dining options, entertainment venues and health services.

If you’re a family and need schooling options for the kids, there is Yokine Primary School, Carmel Primary School, and Carmel School all located within the suburb borders. Neighbouring Yokine is Our Lady of Lourdes School, Nollamara Primary School, Tuart Hill Primary School and Tuart College. For tertiary needs, Edith Cowan Mount Lawley Campus is a short 5-minute drive. There are 3 childcare centres to choose from in Yokine – Nido Early School, Busy Bees at Yokine and Milestones Early Learning.

The population of Yokine is 10,613 with a density of 2,166 persons per square km. The suburb demographics is made up of mainly maturing and established independence, independent youth and older independence, making up 52.7% of total residents.

Annual growth of the suburb is sitting at 11.9%. Based on settled sales as of 2 May 2022, the median land price in the suburb is $500,000 (reiwa.com.au).
