Westminster

Westminster is approximately 12 kilometres from the Perth CBD and located within the City of Stirling local government area. The suburb was formerly the southern part of Balga but was renamed in 1994.

Westminster is in a central location and an easy commute to the City. A drive down the Mitchell Freeway will take you a breezy 15 – 20 minutes to reach the CBD. Local buses in the area will take around 40 minutes, or you can hop on a train at Warwick Train Station and go from there. The Joondalup line will get you to the Perth Underground station in about 15 minutes.

The suburb is not short of recreational areas with Balcombe Lindfield Reserve, Matt Williams Reserve, Galluccio Reserve and Ted Cross Memorial Reserve. Plenty of options for a day out with the family playing sport or letting the kids enjoy the playgrounds. If you’re looking for other activities to keep active, there are many sporting facilities and clubs in surrounding suburbs, including martial arts schools, a badminton arena, a dance studio, gyms and the Stirling Leisure Centre in Balga and Herb Graham in Mirrabooka.

Westminster is in a prime location for access to many shopping precincts. Stirling Central Shopping Centre is the local spot, located to the northwest of the suburb for your daily grocery needs, and only a 3-minute drive. Primewest Northlands in Balcatta and Mirrabooka Square are other options nearby and both less than a 5-minute drive. Both centres have major supermarkets and retailers including fresh food, fashion and services. Major shopping destinations such as Centro Galleria, Karrinyup Shopping Centre, Westfield Whitfords and Joondalup Shopping Centre are all less than 20 minutes away. You will never be short on options!

If you’re wondering about local schools in the suburb, there are three primary schools to choose from – Westminster Primary School, Westminster Junior Primary School, and St Gerard’s Primary School, plus two early learning centres – Little Giggles Child Care Centre and YMCA Westminster Early Learning Centre. Just outside the border you also have Balcatta Primary School, Nollamara Primary School, St Andrew’s Grammar School, Morley Senior High School and John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School.
