The Newport

17 August 2017

Is this our biggest and best yet?

Don’t be surprised if you hear the Newport described as our “biggest and best” display home yet. Designed to deliver a whopping 470sqm of home on a block as narrow as 14m, this new showcase is now open in Iluka.

Big, bold and contemporary, with four super-sized bedrooms, and an impressive choice of living and entertaining areas both indoors and out, the Newport is certainly a big, imposing home.

But that’s not all.

Naturally, this super-sized home also has the thoughtful layout you’d expect from Plunkett.

And don’t forget all the stylish design ideas we’ve included that are totally in tune with the modern lifestyle. From the retreat-style master suite and the executive home office, to the cosy family lounge and indoor/outdoor kitchen, this is a home that recognises how we like to live.

Versatility

“This home clearly demonstrates our understanding of the modern family, as well as our versatility when it comes to design style,” says our design manager Dave Clynk. “It will suit a variety of buyers looking for space and room to grow, especially those who need to accommodate more than two adults in the house, either now or in the future,” he says.

The Newport’s master suite is in its own private wing on the ground floor, but with plenty of room to play with upstairs there’s ample scope to create a second master suite or guest suite if you wanted to.

Designing the upstairs ‘home theatre’ as a second living area –with space for a table and chairs if needed – had also provided great versatility. Kitted out with built-in storage and a kitchenette/mini bar, this open-plan upper-floor living area leads out to a huge balcony designed to take in views from the front of the house.

Talking point

The glass-sided study on the upper floor is another talking point, allowing the work-at-home boss to enjoy views across the double-height entry void, out to the landscape beyond, while still being closed off from distracting background noise.

“The glass walls contribute to the openness and sense of volume you experience throughout this home,” Dave says. “It’s about space, as well as the perception of space.”

First impressions count

Downstairs, the double-height entry lobby and open-tread staircase create an immediate sense of luxury as you step into the Newport through the extra-high, extra-wide front door.

“Straight away you feel as if the home is sitting on a much bigger block than it actually is,” Dave says.

The lobby flows on into the kitchen with its large scullery and adjoining walk-in pantry. Opening up to a second outdoor entertaining area at the side of the house, the sleek, contemporary kitchen boasts a large island bench, long stretches of benchtop and ample storage.

Indoor/outdoor living

Wrapping the living and dining areas around the main alfresco area has provided a pleasing sense of separation, while two sets of bi-folding doors help create one huge indoor/outdoor area that’s been made all the more impressive by leaving out the corner post.

“The layout of the dining area and family lounge is a very deliberate move away from free-form living,” Dave says. “The living area feels cosy and more like a lounge retreat where you’d go to relax, watch TV or read a book.”

Street appeal

Outside, the Newport’s contemporary elevation brings together commercial-grade Alucobond cladding and large format timber-look tiles for a striking layered look. This is street appeal that will stand the test of time.

Newport just a little too big? The design can be adapted to suit 12m-wide blocks. Not big enough? Like all our homes, the Newport can also be customised to suit your individual needs.
