You love your kids and you’d do anything for them, but sometimes a little separation goes a long way. Sound familiar?
The desire to give everyone their own space was one of the driving forces behind the design of the Northwestern, our big, beautiful display home in Hammond Park.
Mum and dad get the entire upper floor of this fabulous two-storey, while the ground floor is dedicated to living, entertaining and the younger members of the family.
The parents’ top-floor retreat comes complete with a sitting room, balcony and a giant bedroom with plenty of space for a couple of comfy armchairs. We’ve also included a fitted dressing room, and showcased double vanities and a double walk-in shower in the swish ensuite to accentuate that sense of indulgence we know so many of you are looking for.
Yes, the master wing really does take up the entire upper floor.
It’s the hotel-style design you’ve been asking for, so naturally we deliberately went a little ‘OTT’ in terms of the space.
Our design manager, Dave Clynk, describes it as “a true haven that parents can escape to; a private space that really is private as it’s not just a separate wing, it’s on a totally separate level.”
What about the rest?
Downstairs, there’s a super-spacious living and entertaining area packed with features for the modern family, including a double-sized alfresco, a computer nook off the kitchen, a scullery, a home theatre or formal lounge, and an open-tread staircase set against a soaring wall of glass.
Ideal for growing families, or families with teenage or grown-up children, the Northwestern is an impressive four-bedroom design perfect for creating that “forever home”.
It also neatly lends itself to multi-generational households, with space for Nan and Pop, as well as those long-term visitors from overseas.
The Northwestern is packed with features. Here are a few of our favourites:
Indoor/outdoor flow: Bi-folding doors open up the kitchen and living area to the large alfresco. The result is a great flow-through of space.
Alfresco size: You asked for space to accommodate both an outdoor lounge setting and an outdoor table, and here it is. There’s plenty of room for eating, drinking and relaxing in this double-sized alfresco.
Computer nook: Set to one side of the kitchen, the computer nook is an excellent addition to the main living zone. Big enough for two people, it’s ideal for homework, surfing the net for recipes or ordering the week’s groceries online.
Scullery: The generous scullery has a sink, plenty of food preparation space and storage, and access to the laundry.
Utility zone: The kitchen, scullery and laundry have been grouped together to create a hardworking utility zone.
Storage, storage and more storage: We’ve made sure there are with ample cupboards in the kitchen, scullery and laundry, as well as great storage elsewhere in the home.
Formal lounge revisited: Creating a quiet space to the front of this two-storey showcase, well away from the main hub, we’ve given you options for either a chill-out room, a conventional home theatre or a more ‘formal’ space that you can retreat to at the end of the day.
Grand entrance: The quiet space to the front is divided from the main living area by the foyer, which looks spectacular at night with the staircase lit up against the two-storey wall of glass.
Street appeal: The Northwestern’s fresh, modern vibe is reflected in its front elevation. With its clean, minimalist lines, hand-laid stonework, rendered walls and over-sized entry door, it offers stylish street appeal that isn’t going to date easily.
The Northwestern has been designed to suit a 15m-wide block. As with all Plunkett designs, the home can be customised to suit block size, budget and individual needs.
